Jean Marie Vianney has been deeply engaged in the field of education for over a decade. Throughout his academic journey, from undergraduate to graduate studies, he specialized in education sciences, complementing his studies with a professional career in the same field. His experience spans both secondary and higher education, where he has worked as a teacher and participated in numerous training programs, including expertise in quality assurance and the internationalization of higher education. His research focuses on education policies, systems, and related fields. As a result, he has gained a deep understanding of the challenges facing the Burundian education system, fueling his strong commitment to contributing to the development of an effective education system for the country’s sustainable progress.

Gilbert Iragiraneza

Gilbert is a senior psychologist and has a long-standing interest in the psychosocial and clinical care of learners at all levels of education and in supporting people with disabilities. He enjoys linking education to the psychosocial and clinical well-being of learners. His experience as a Red Cross rescuer has more than once been at the service of children in need, especially in the case of disasters.

Gaspard Niyongabo

Gaspard has 16 years of experience as a secondary school teacher. He knows all the challenges of the Burundian education system down to the last detail. His involvement in Education plus Burundi reflects his commitment to finding solutions to these challenges. His contribution is mainly focused on teacher training on pedagogical approaches and teaching methods likely to produce a significant return on the teaching-learning process.

Jonas Nduwimana

Jonas has been teaching at the secondary school level since 2011. With extensive experience in the former Burundian education system, he has also witnessed the introduction of the basic and post-basic school reforms. To adapt to these changes, he has undergone several training programs to better understand the requirements of the new system. In addition to his academic background as a mathematics graduate from the École Normale Supérieure, his experience and continuous training equip him to address some of the pressing challenges facing education in Burundi. This commitment drives him to contribute actively to the field through Education Plus Burundi.

Louis Second Mugisha

Louis Second MUGISHA has over five years of experience serving the community through his entrepreneurial and educational initiatives. After graduating from the University of Burundi with a qualification as a secondary school English teacher, he founded a translation and interpreting business. His work primarily focuses on assisting students applying for scholarships abroad by translating their documents and providing training in English language skills necessary for academic success in rigorous international contexts. Currently, he is pursuing a Master of Arts in Translation and Interpreting at the University of Burundi, aiming to contribute to research and higher education while continuing to serve the grassroots community. Louis Second is a socially driven individual with strong leadership qualities, dedicated to making a positive impact on young people for a better future. He is a YALI alumnus, having been part of Cohort 52, organized by USAID at the Nairobi Centre in 2023. This program empowers young African leaders in community development to drive meaningful change among youth, families, their countries, the continent, and the world.

Charles Hitimana

Charles Hitimana is a trained psychologist with experience working with nonprofit organizations since 2020. He has been actively involved in community interventions, particularly in youth resilience and empowerment projects. A passionate researcher in parenting and childhood development, Charles is also deeply interested in the family-school relationship, aiming to contribute to healthy child-rearing practices. He has demonstrated expertise in parental coaching, helping families navigate the challenges of raising children effectively.
